Eedris Abdulkareem Recounts Altercation With 50 Cent In 2004

Eedris Abdulkareem and 50 Cent

Nigerian hip-hop veteran, Eedris Abdulkareem has shed light on the infamous altercation between himself and American rapper, 50 Cent.

Abdulkareem disclosed this during an interview on The Honest Bunch released on Monday, February 19, 2024. He explained that the confrontation stemmed from an incident during a music concert sponsored by Nigerian Breweries in 2004, where 50 Cent and his entourage reportedly forcibly ejected several Nigerian artists, including P-Square, from the backstage area.

Detailing the events of that night at Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square, Abdulkareem revealed that he resisted when 50 Cent’s team attempted to remove him from backstage. He recounted how an event organizer intervened to prevent a physical altercation between him and the American rapper’s entourage.

Further elaborating on the chaotic atmosphere, the Jaga Jaga crooner alleged that women were subjected to molestation at the concert venue, and fatalities occurred due to a stampede instigated by 50 Cent’s presence. Abdulkareem accused Nigerian Breweries of covering up the incident in the media.

Reflecting on the altercation, Abdulkareem stated, “For the plane saga, it was the second day. A day before that time, we were at TBS at the backstage, and when 50 Cent and his crew came backstage, they chased and flogged every Nigerian out of the backstage area, including P-Square.”
