Rising Afrobeats artist, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has taken the internet by storm as clips of his latest lavish acquisition, a Richard Mille wristwatch valued at $180,000, trend online, prompting a surge of excitement amongst fans.
In the shared video clips featured on Shallipopi’s Snapchat on Friday, December 15, the Edo-born singer confidently flaunts the high-end timepiece, garnering attention for the opulence it represents. However, the acquisition did not escape scrutiny, as some curious fans questioned the source of funds for such an extravagant purchase.
Responding with a touch of humor, Shallipopi trolled those querying him, humorously claiming he acquired the watch “off Ring Road in Benin,” dismissing concerns about the watch’s authenticity.
The controversy surrounding Shallipopi’s wristwatch escalated when a self-proclaimed watch expert, known as the “fake watch buster,” joined the conversation.
Contrary to claims that the artist was sporting a knock-off, the watch expert affirmed the authenticity of Shallipopi’s Richard Mille timepiece on Saturday, December 16, asserting its genuine value of $180,000.
The expert further emphasized that such luxury watches are also owned by industry heavyweight, Davido.
As the online discourse continues, Shallipopi remains in the spotlight, capturing the attention of fans and critics alike with his bold display of affluence and the subsequent endorsement from the phoney watch buster, solidifying the singer’s presence in the digital conversation.
