It is a sad as reports of the passing of Ace Producer Beatsbyjayy have been flying across social platforms. BeatsbyJayy or Big Daddy Jayy as he is also called was known more popularly as a hiphop producer having earned major production credits for recent work with, M.I, AQ, Blaqbonez, Loose Kaynon and Cheque to mention a few.
Details emerging suggest that the 28 year old producer passed away as a result of complications from Covid 19.
He was notable for major production on M.I’s Judah EP, AQ’s God’s Engineering, AQ and M.I’s The Live Report, BlaqBonez’ Sex Over Love and most recently, Loose Kaynon’s Survivor’s Remorse. He also produced the controversial L.A.M.B cypher, released in August 2019. He also held major Production Credits for Cheque’s debut Project, Bravo.
However, for most aficionados of the Nigerian underground, they knew him when he produced Don’t Ask Me What Happened EP for erstwhile Loopy Records act, Milli.
Born Victor Jimar Chujor-Idowu, BeatsByJayy is the last of three boys in Surulere, Lagos where he was raised.
Having made such a mark in the Nigerian hiphop community and the Music industry at Large, He will be sorely missed.
At the time of his death, the veteran producer was working on his fourth body of work. He released three EPs in his lifetime, Replay Value EP in 2017, Road To Jaynius in 2019 and Jaynius in 2020.
May his soul Rest in Peace!
